Ancient Finns believed that the heaven is an upper part of the egg and is supported with the pillar at the Northern pole under the Northern Star. The movement of stars was explained by the rotation of canopy of heaven around Northern Star… Since that a lot of time passed and this is only a part of mythology for Finns… And on the Finnish canopy of heaven a new Northern Star rose. She shines and illuminates our souls with enchanting light…
Tarja had been very active lately. And along with her passion for classical music, everyone knows she used the winter and christmas season many times already to perform extraordinary occasions and venues. This year marks a very special highlight in her winter appearances. For the first time in her solo career, Tarja is releasing a live product: just in time for christmas. Under the banner of Tarja Turunen & HARUS. It’s widely known that Tarja’s musical background is classical music and her voice classically trained. After the enormous success with Nightwish and two gems of heavy rock solo records, Tarja goes back to her “first love” for a while. A DVD / CD version as well as a BluRay / CD will be released just a week later! Tarja Turunen & HARUS represents the start of a new journey, crossing genres and musical cultures. HARUS is a rather peculiar, uncommon Finnish word that describes the four tensors that keep a tent together or the tensor that keeps the mast from falling in a sailing boat. Both of the meanings apply to this line up: four members, four equals, four different backgrounds to tie together exquisite classical music developed strongly and in a very stable way, with a taste of experimental, modern feel. Tarja comments on this: “In 2006 we did our fi rst concert together. We had such a joy and fun that we decided to keep on performing as a group. The name came many years after when we believed it is time to make it offi cial. What is special in HARUS is that every concert represents a magic moment. We have the freedom to be inspired by our own emotions. We hope to be able to offer you that spirit with this CD/DVD.“ The first output of Tarja Turunen & HARUS - “In Concert - Live at Sibelius Hall” - features traditional and emotional music from Finland, presented together with more international repertoire (eg. 3 different versions of ‘Ave Maria’, ‘You Would Have Loved This’ and the beautiful NIGHTWISH classic ‘Walking In the Air’).
